It was very "electric" and ARF there this year... the swap meet upstairs was getting more reasonable from most vendors...eg. BIGsky hobbies had Realflight G6 for $149 new Saito 100...$180... and lots of vendors selling micro servoes for 2 and 3 bucks upstairs and throughout. Prices dropped dramatically in electrics there thanks to overseas Ill bet. Didnt see too much "junk" as in the last few years. The model contest is sufferring thanks to ARFS...but that goes for everyone holding model competitions across the board.
Liked the nighttime lighting system one vendor had where the lights are not attached to the plane, but rather on 2/4 LED pods sticking about about 3 inches from corners of the model...makes it light up dramatically for night flying.... and you can see the whole plane, not just a leading edge, etc. ( price was $42 for two light and $57 for 4 light)
Battery prices and chargers dropped quite a bit and super deals everywhere. Chris and Jim at Ontario Adhesives sold out lot of the stuff as well. Seen quite a few SW.Ont. rccanadites there doin' the mecca.

Re: Toledo pics

I was at the show on Friday and Saturday and couldn't believe the reduction in the number of people. I usually don't go on Saturday because of the numbers but this year, I walked around with no problem at all. Got to sit at the bar and have a beer on each day! I guess the U.S. economy and price of gas is taking its toll. Even got to park in the parking lot with the bridge attached to the Seagate Center. Usually parked five or six blocks away!

That dragon thing was unbelievable. Can't imagine the time it took to apply the finish.

My friend and I picked up cases of fuel for just over $40 ea. Worth the trip alone.

Re: Toledo pics

I thought it was another great show, I had a blast! The attendance was WAY down though, I'd estimate 60-70% of the usual crowds. I hope it doesn't effect the decision of the vendors to go to the show.

There were some superb aircraft on display, the aforementioned dragon was phenomenal, I'd be very surprised if it doesn't win best of show.

The Carf tutor done in flite metal and the Carf F-4U were also beautiful pieces of workmanship as were many others.

Mike
