Golden Knight

I guess I am being lazy, 'cause I could probably find out with a bit of digging, but can someone please tell me the difference between the GK series and the plain series of the same displacement? Other than the colour that is

Re: Golden Knight

Unless they have changed something recently, otherwise just the color, all internal parts are the same.

Re: Golden Knight

That is what I thought. Pretty pricey for a paint job?

Re: Golden Knight

Neither the paint or the gold plating is worth a damn. Paint chips off easily and the gold will quickly start to wear thin just from wiping.

Re: Golden Knight

I have a dozen Saito Golden Knight engines. None have any black paint flaking. Some of the gold valve covers have dulled a bit after years of use. On certain airplanes the black and gold engines appearance is quite often worth the extra money. Especially when most of the motor is visible like a plane without a cowl. Plus I always thought that black dissipates heat better than any other color.

Cheers Floyd

Re: Golden Knight

This ST G-71 had some bad scuffs and the aluminum was stained pretty dark from an inappropriate engine cleaner.
Decided to polish some of it out including the carb and then painted the rest in a Hammerite finish.
Cleans things up nicely and makes for something a little different.
