re savage x into a savage xl

the savage xl is both longer wheelbase and wider as well. the dogbones are stronger and longer compared to the previous savage .

hpi has put together a very nice truck with all the goodies as standard.

3 speed tranny, steel spur gear , all steel diffs, aluminum clutch shoes, a really nice tuned pipe, a higher torque steering servo etc...

i just bought my savage xl not too long ago and im very impressed with its handling on a racetrack.

the 5.9 engine has alot of power and gets it up to speed very quickly.

i raced at full throttle the past weekend and instead of racing my savage xl i used my revo 3.3 instead . i had all kinds of problems with my 3.3 and the junk ezstart setup. i have no doubt that if i had raced my savage xl i would have finished the 30 minute a main no problem.

im sure hpi will come out with some kind of conversion kit in the future.

Lightbulb

The XL chassis kit is out which has XL TVPs, a motor plate, and a longer rear drive dogbone. LHS quoted me $70 which isn't too bad.

For width I believe one has to buy the XL axles and spacers, and then hexes wheels, etc. Personally I would rather just buy offset rims or 40series rims and not bother with all that business.
