TREX 450SE V2 Crash

I was flying my TREX 450 this morning, there must have been a lapse in concentration on my part, bang, smacked the floor! Carbon fiber blade pieces all over the place.

Damage report; CF blades, flybar, main shaft, main gear & auto rotation gear.

I will be shopping tomorrow for parts...

The shock, anguish and swearing is now over!

Thanks,

Gordon

That's only a ~$50 crash. Pretty easy to take. There will come a time when you laugh it off. Now, with a standard heli it brings tears to the eyes and possibly a momentary temptation to swear off the hobby altogether.

And what's this about the "floor"? I trust that was a gymnasium or other large area?

TREX 450SE V2 and the Floor!

I just spent about $160.00 on replacement parts which includes the CF original blades and two woodies. The blades alone were about $100.00. So, $60.00 on parts is alright!

I fly indoors during the winter months and outdoors with my Raptor 30 during the warmer months. I have access to a gym and my girlfriend lives and works out of her 7000 sq. ft. home. Yes, 7000! Her gallery alone is approximately 3000 sq. ft. So, I usually fly indoors two or three times a week. Now, I am grounded until I repair my 450.

I have flown the 450 outdoors, however, it could get pretty tight when the wind picks up...

Thanks,

Gordon

$100.00 for C/F mainblades for a T-Rex450???

By far the best C/F blades I have found for the Trex are the RotorTech 320's. I have got them from Pivotal Hobbies or Norburn Hobbies in Vancouver B.C., Hobby Wholesale and Great Hobbies in Edmonton Alberta and Model Land and PM hobbies in Calgary Alberta.

I am sure there are others also that sell them in eastern Canada.

And I only paid $49.95 for my last two sets from Norburn!!!

There you go Gordon, see, it wasn't bad. That's one of the best parts about the Trex - cheap repairs.

The worst crash I've had so far set me back $200, but it could go even higher. $200 included an Align SE frame, CF blades, Hyperion CF tail blades, and a bunch of smaller parts.

The worst crashes add destroyed batteries and/or electronics ($300-$400 crash), but that's a very, very bad (an thankfully rare) day on a Trex.

This is the reason I practise new moves on the Trex first (after perfecting them on the sim).
