OK Guys;

A friend of mine has two unique multi-cylinder engines that he wants to sell. No one in our area (Trenton On) is interested so I thought that I’d help him by reaching out to the RCC.

These engines need some love, they have not run for a while and came from an estate.

They do turn over and are rather stiff but seem to be in good condition (good compression).

The first engine we identified as a 1972 Ross (Northfield-Ross Corp., Island Park, New York) Four (1.20; 4 by .30 cylinders) flat four RC model airplane engine. (google ‘Ross engines’ for a photo of this engine)

The Second is a Tecnopower five cylinder Radial engine (~ 1.20 size) in the ‘C’ series and is no longer manufactured – I did check with the plant in California and most parts are still available.

The Ross engine is worth over a thousand dollars IN MINT CONDITION…

The Technopower is worth over two thousand dollars IN MINT CONDITION…

But they are NOT IN MINT CONDITION – they need some love and the price will reflect that…

I do not know what he is asking for either engine – but I do know that what ever deal is struck will be fair for both parties.

IF you are interested in either engine – let me know by Private Message and I will forward you the contact information to my friend by Private Message.

Re: A Ross and a Technopower Engine

I remember seeing the Tecnopower radials run at the Toledo Show back in the 80's and they were impressive. Always wanted one, although too expensive for my limited budget.

It would make a challenging project, though, and if the price were right one that might make these winter months go quicker.

Good luck with the sale.

ps. Any chance of pics?

Re: A Ross and a Technopower Engine

Here are several engine reviews from sceptreflight.net, for peoples' curiosity:

here is a straight forward review of the Ross flat 4 cylinder 2 cycle engine:
http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Eng...0Flat%204.html

and two Peter Chinn reviews of Technopower's "big bore5" radial, successor to the five cylinder, larger 'C' radial four stroke engines :
http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Eng...N%201983).html
and
http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Eng...E%201984).html

For information on the differences in specs between the earlier, larger 'C" and the later, smaller "big bore 5", open up the owner's manual link in the Tecnopower link the original poster provided.

'C' series 5 = 2.255 cu.in., 52oz weight, 16x6 to 20x6 props
"big bore 5" = 1.392 cu.in., 26oz weight, 14x6 to 14x8 props

good luck
