Building a Elevated Safety Stand

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
If you look in the gallery under "User Albums" there are pictures and a construction artical on building an Elevated Safety Stand. This lets the members in your club who have difficulty bending or crouching at the ground level starting stations to start and tune thier engines at a comfortable standing position. The stand safely holds even giant scale gas powered planes in place at full throttle. If you would like a set of plans email me at the address in the album and I will send you a free set via email.

How do planes with wheelpants work in the channels?

They look great though!

Its a little more challanging because of the different styles of pants and different sizes. Guys have made thier own adapters as simple as a piece of plywood that fits in the channel to raise it up to clear the pants. A piece of foam or rag between the pants and rails to one fella made cradles to fit the wheel pants that locked into the channels. That is sort of up to the individual. Also one thing that has been suggested is that the rails out near the prop be either cut down or shortened.

Hi Dennis,
Hey that stand is an excellent idea! We have some older gentlemen in our club that sure would appreciate this. Can you send me plans? Thanks.

When you consider we have at least 2 active members in thier 90's that makes me still a sprout. And you just shy of a gleam in your fathers eye.

Dennis,
Frank and I are good friends - he is about 15 years my senior and I allways bug him about being the "old man".

I am also dating his daughter, so I have to give him a hard time!

Later,
Andrew

Holy moly, I'm takin hits all over here! I love the attention. I'm hoping Andrew will get Rachel (daughter) into r/c flying, or perhaps build an engine
Hey Dennis, got the plans ok, thanks. Maybe I'll just build one for me too. Hey, I won't get grass stains on my knees either.
Andrew, wait until the next time you see me
