Are you still around and reading some of the posts. It has been lonely without your comments.
I went back to this topic as I have been working for a bit on a diffuser that I now made on the mill. Got everything cut and was looking good until I went to drill the front vane holes. I am using 4/40 on the front and after drilling 14 holes I broke the bit in the last one. That figures with me but when I get to the city I will get some 1/16 rod from the KS rack. Then I can use the EDM for a few minutes to remove it as it is in about 1/8".
Am starting on the shaft housing and since I replaced some parts on the lathe I hope I get it right. I spent most of the morning aligning it before I start to cut. Found I had a .004 taper between 12" centre and measuring with outside mic's I may be out 1/2 a thou. Going to quit using my electronic calipers as I can find some differance.
After taking a break I am back at it but will take it easy, and do extra checks when setting up.
I have a question for some comments. Who has front preload on there bearings? I have been thinking of changing but have got various comments on the subject.
