i am totally new to the hobby and have aquired a large amount of used equipment for a small sum of money, known to me before i made the purchuse one of the two radios has a eradtic channel [ arilon ] the radio is an expert fm on channel 40 72.590 mhz. now my questions for you all is this: is this radio worth putting money into to fix and if so who if any body does repairs on such a radio as i can not seem to find any info on this unit through the web or any where else, ok now for the second question, if the radio is not worth fixing are servos compatibale with other recievers and if not can i put another rx crystal to match up with another radio tx or is the tx mod compatible with other tx or should i just throw the works of it in the trash any info or comments would be greatly appriecated : thanks mark |

radio
The expert line was the pre-curser to the JR line we know today
First things to check in my opinion - is the system legal - ie gold stickered, narrow band etc. given that this is at least 15 years old, you should consider sending it for a tune up anyway. batteries are likely toast, the system may be suffering black wire disease etc. the servos will work with any new system - one of my flying buddies is stillusing his Expert system I you didn't pay much for a lot of goodies, you should really consider investing in a tune up the radio is the most important part of your gear.

When you can buy new and reliable for under $250 why would you even bother??? You will be risking more dollars than you will ever save.
