Use a spinner!

Buy a spinner or a prop hub nut! this will let U use that starter without any problems.

There is also different sizes of cones for the starter U can buy also!

If it is not a ball bearing engine a starter should not be used. Use of a starter on a bushed crankshaft will drive the prop washer against the crancase. When enough of that has been gouged away the crankpin will start gouging the inside of the backplate.

If it is a ball bearing engine then there is no problem.

chicken stick it?

Iam sure if your not trying to man-handle with tons of force its ok to use a starter. Use a chicken stick then if your worried! I've yet to kill any kind of engine in the way you discribed! - Sure enough Iam sure there will be people out there who have stories to tell. I rather keep my digits a far as possible from the that rotating dicer.

If you do hand flip it, dont use your fingers (I've seen what props do to fingers, some guy hacked up his hands on here )

Use a stiff piece of rubber hose, and if that doesn't work use something like a fluffy paint roller. when you're hand flipping, don't bang the prop, put your chicken stick (hose or WHY) against the prop and firmly puch the prop around. Hopefully this will get er going for ya.

Good Luck

Mike
