Tree - 1; Foamy Extra 330 - 0

Well, I've flown my GP Flatout Extra 330 indoors twice with little success. So, I figured I'd take it outside to at least get the hang of how it flys without the added stress of having to avoid walls (and ceilings and floors and basketball nets and...). Sunday afternoon was nice, a bit cloudy but with gentle winds, so off we go! I flew a couple of circuits around the field next to the house when I noticed that it was starting to get blown downwind. There are some very tall trees at the edge of the field and, well, you can guess where the plane ended up! Thirty feet up a forty foot tree! (How did I know it was 30' ? Well you see, I have this 24' extension ladder... and no, I didn't fall off the ladder) End result, the tree was declared the winner by a landslide. There wasn't much left of the Extra after shaking it out of the tree. The servos, receivers and battery are now waiting to be installed in an Ultrafly Outrage 3D bipe. Isn't this a great hobby !

Cheers (and watch out for plane eating trees)!

Having lost a plane on the weekend, I share your pain!

Good luck with the bipe!

W Jolli,

Were you running the stock motor on the Flatout? Or did you install an outrunner brushless? Just curious.

It was the stock motor and the battery had started to run down. It wouldn't climb over the trees. I wasn't too terribly impressed with the plane in the first place, if you looked at it the wrong way something on it would break. So, I wasn't very upset when it was shredded. I'm really looking forward to getting the Outrage in the air. The kit came with a decent brushless outrunner.

Cheers!
