I received the parts for the Micro Mold Lark I bought here on RCC. Very much like the parts for the RCM bird.

Re: antiques

I also forgot to mention I found a nice K&B/Veco .19 RC that was in my engine box. Just the right size for the RCM heli.

Re: antiques

I have a 20 year old Graupner Bell 222, with Graupner mechanics, Vario electric start. OS .61 engine with Graupner crankshaft. The gyro is called an Angular senor stabilizer( made foir JR). All servos are jr standard. The main and tail blades are wooden. I'm in the process of restoring it. It used to have a jr century radio on ch 50. I'm trying to find one.

Re: antiques

Man o man did our decor ever suck LOL there were 11 kids but I was the only one who built models. The best place to do so was on the dining room table and if a model was spread out over the table everyone ate in the livingroom until it was finished no one ever said a word or complained about the balsa dust or dope.
Sure brings back some good memories though Hope the photos help Andrew and thanks for scanning and posting Frank.

Re: antiques

No problem Bill. Pretty soon that will be back in style again anyway. I forgot to add that if you want some super high res pics I can email them to you Andrew. I scanned at 600 dpi and I can go up to 9600 dpi.

Re: antiques

Thats cool! I love the "decor".. we had an old console TV like that when I was a kid until I wrecked it with a huge magnet one of my dad's friends gave me..

Do you still have that Lark? I got more than I expected with the deal of parts I got off of here. I have been really busy, and havent had much of a chance to look at it yet past an initial inspection. I know this wont happen overnight - but I am hoping maybe to have something flyable by the spring.

Re: antiques

I no longer have it Andrew, I built a Mantis as well and I think the guy I sold it to years ago might still have that one.

Re: antiques

Well, today was a good day

Back in the early 1990's, at the "worlds biggest bookstore" in Toronto, I passed on buying a model heli book that I later on would regret - but next visit it was gone.

I remembered it was a British book, and it had plans in it to make your own fixed pitch heli ala the Lark.

Well, a few weeks ago, I found a guy in the UK selling a copy of a book I thought was "the" book. I bought it for about $10 including postage (I think the book was like $3!) and today it came, it is indeed the book!

It is called "Radio Control Model Helicopters - A Detailed Design Manual for the R/C Model Helicopter Builder" by John Drake (published in 1977) and I am super happy to add it to my library.
