Hi Chris.

The only thing I can think of is using alcohol to soften the epoxy. I use it for cleanup of my table and tools I use to apply epoxy and it works great.

If its a large flat area that is inclosed, you might also try using your heat gun working slowly around the glued area. Heat and pull on the stab carefully so as not to break it and this might soften it enough to free it for you.

The only other thing is to take a flat razor saw and saw through the joint, sand it up well once its off and start over again.

When epoxying on a stab I use a combination of pins and tape to hold the stab in place until the epoxy dries. Another trick is to apply the epoxy, position it carefully into place and use medium C/A in a few key areas. Hold it perfectly straight and hit the C/A with kicker! This method will continue to hold it square in place until the epoxy sets up.

Don't worry my friend. I think we've all done this once in our building experience. It will not happen again, right? LOL!

This is not something you want to rush Chris. Take your time and work at it slowly to remove the stab glue joint. Once its apart, the alcohol will work great to remove the old glue. Try to get it as clean as possible before re-glueing.

Hope this info helps. Good luck with the project!

Please let me know how this works out for you if you would be so kind!

Chris: Take your heat gun and carefully heat the epoxy. If you take your time and get enough heat into the joint, the epoxy will soften enough for you to move the stab into position.

Alcohol will not affect cured epoxy at all.

After reconsidering this, I think your right Ron about alcohol on fully cured epoxy.

I was thinking that this was something that Chris had just done and came back within short order and found it crooked, then he might have had a chance with the alcohol method as epoxy takes somewhere around 4 hours to fully setup and 24 hours to be totally cured.

Well, there you go, always great to learn something new. This is definitely one of the greatest sites to educate yourself on matters such as this! Thanks to you Ron!

Canadian tire has a nice, inexpensive heat gun kit (they sell it for stripping paint) that works great.

I concur with Ron... once the epoxy has set heat is about the only way to get it to soften up...

You can try and cut it also with a hot knife (or heating an x acto repeatedly and cutting a little at a time).
