A very good point. I had to look at the video again... on the first lift the front wheel catches the stop, but the second lift is clean - all three wheels come off the table at the same time. So I would say yes, the attitudes are the same.

Pretty sure all the spreadsheet math is good... the only other reasons I can think of for the nose down attitude so close to the specified CG is that the manufacturers (a) felt that a slightly nose-down attitude was good for first flights, or (b) made an error.

Re: Cessna 150 by RC Guys - my build thread

I seem to think that most models I have flown they give the recommended range quite a bit forward of where it really needs to be. No harm in that since it will keep you out of stall trouble but I don't like it as landing speeds tend to be a bit higher.

Reason for asking you about the attitude during measuring is that any slight nose up or nose down when measuring and weighing is for sure going to skew your calculated COG one way or the other.

Just been curious about where the 9mm difference you mentioned a few posts back came from.

I have three scales and would like to use them for bigger planes rather than balance beam, stringing them up with Vanessa, or needing a second person to lift.

I'm gonna give it a go with the 182 and see how close I can get.

You must be pretty much ready to launch this craft?

Just about ready! A little radio programming and some minor work to do on the airframe, then I'll be in a holding pattern waiting for the field to melt and dry out! As soon as everything is finished I will put it aside - my next project is the fabrication of some coroplast skis for my Pulse 125.

You know it, Max! I was hoping to have my skis fabricated in time for our club's Winter Fun Fly this Saturday but it's a moot point - my dear wife reminded me that we have tickets for the Brier that day.

You going all day? I got 7:30 draw. 3-G. Wanted to get a complete package but once I changed to rotation work last year it threw my schedule out. Have to leave to go back to work on Monday.

Missus will be excited to see the guys from Northern Ontario with "The Big Pipes"

Not all day... I think our draw starts at 1 pm. Looking forward to it... we get free bus transportation with our tickets so we won't even have to pay for parking!

Re: Cessna 150 by RC Guys - my build thread

I wanted to hang this plane nose up just like the others in my "hangar", but all my other planes are tail draggers which meant that the hanging rack was too high for the Cessna.

No worries - a little measurement and an little math and I had these drop down hangers that pin in place.

When I tried hanging the plane for the first time I was reminded of another design feature best suited for tail draggers - the rear of the fuselage contacts the wall. I solved that problem with this foam-fronted support.

Here's the support in place.

Everything's hung up.

And here it will wait until the back yard has thawed enough to test run the engine!
