Yeah, they are big. ALthough they don't look it in the photos.

When I was picking up Tylers motor form Johnny at Azure. I asked Johnny if he still had some.
He did, and gave me a set of 4 pairs. Sweet !!!!
I am only using them on the elevators and rudder.
Ailerons will be as per plans.

On a side note, when I spoke to Johnny yesterday. He said the new DLE fuel pumps were in. He said they look good. I plan to pick one up when I pick up my engine

Re: 50% Exclusiv Modellbau Ultimate Bipe Build Thread

I was thinking of going to an electric pump this year. It takes so many darn cranks to fill up my planes these days. Almost too tired to flip the prop by the time I am done filling the tank.

An electric fuel pump for filling your plane.
Johnny said it is a nice fully sealed unit for gas.
All machined aluminum. Supposed to retail around $60 or so.
A lot less than most other available units

Here is a link to the pump

Re: 50% Exclusiv Modellbau Ultimate Bipe Build Thread

Somehow the idea of an electric motor and fuel never sat well with me.

But filling big tanks does suck.... I mean fill

I understand what you mean.

Thats why they recomend the purpose built pumps. The electric motor and switch is in a sealed unit seperate from the actual pump with gaskets and O-rings.
That way no fumes get into the electrical portion. If any arcing does occure, there are no fumes to ignite. Because its the fumes that are the concern, not the liquid....at least not at first

Because of those types of designs we have been paying dearly for a purpose built gas pump.

But the DLE pump is $60. I am getting one for sure

Re: 50% Exclusiv Modellbau Ultimate Bipe Build Thread

What??? Gas fumes are explosive?? Na - that's just a mith!!

I was visiting a feild in the US 2 years ago and this guy had rigged up an awesome electric fuel pump, but it wasn't sealed to keep costs down - his solution - he just brought along the home fire extinguisher to "be safe" - lots of issues that can be read into that one!!!!

ROTFLMAO!!!
