If anyone has built this kit and put a glow engine in it, I am wondering what size you used.

I don't want to over-power it as I want it to fly like a true cub.

I am waiting for my kit now and want to start looking for an engine for it. Probably a 4-stroke.

Any information out there??

Thanks

my Dad has one.. he didn't have a strong enough electric system for it, so he put in a K&B 60.. Waay too much power, but it flew fine. I flew it as an electric, and it also flew fine, although with the limited power, it had to be handled with some finesse and not thrown around too much..
If It were mine, I would go with a 50 or 56 Saito...

These are the specs for the Sig 1/5 scale Cub which is slightly larger.

Recommended Engines:
.40-.46 in³ (6.5 - 7.5 cm³) 2-Stroke
.45-.65 in³ (7.5 - 10.7 cm³) 4-stroke
Wingspan: 84.5 in (2146 mm)
Wing Area: 947 in2 (61.1 dm2)
Weight: 7 lbs (3175 g)
Length: 55.25 in (1403 mm)

That should give you a good idea of what to use.

It's all too easy to use too much engine on the Cub.

Cheers

Your right Nony.

Sorry I mised that.

That would call for a larger engine.

An OS Surpass 70 surpass or the Saito 65 would be fine

Lots of power to even use with floats.

That plane is supposed to weigh only 4 lbs!!!
