I use a toaster oven at 400 degrees F (and a good pair of oven mitts) until the bearings drop out or can be gently removed. Should work on cam bearings too. Some people use a propane torch but I prefer to heat the entire case.

Re: OS 70 FS tear down

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The guy I used to get bearings from has gone under!!!! These bearings are TOAST! So, does anyone have a supplier they would like to recommend? I have seen the guy on E-Bay, but I'm not sure about him. Tried Boca Bearings, but they're website, says there is no bearings for this motor. Any ideas?

Re: OS 70 FS tear down

Uhh, lost me there, not sure what those numbers are in reference to. What I'm looking for is the crankshaft bearings, (front and rear) My camshaft bearings look fine.

Re: OS 70 FS tear down

Give these guys a try. I used them at their Mississauga store. Great service. I see there is one in St. Catherines as well.

http://www.canadianbearings.com

Boca bearings will give you the sizes for the bearings on their website, then give the other guys a call. All my bearings were on the shelf, in stock. Daren

Re: OS 70 FS tear down

I used a heat gun to heat the cases to get the bearings out. I used this guys videos as reference. They seemed to have some good ideas. Since my engine rebuilds were my first, I had no first hand knowledge.

Good luck, Daren

Re: OS 70 FS tear down

As Darren states use "Canadian Bearings", they are an industrial bearing supplier. There is nothing special about the bearings in our engines (Apart from the occasional odd size) Catalog bearings, SKF, NTN, etc are rated for operating conditions far more severe than our engine use.
