You may want to check on the Halon extinguisher, you may not be able to use it anymore.

I suggest (and it was in a ealier post as well) to call a local fire extinguisher recharge centre. They sell refurbished ones for a lot cheaper.

Re: Co2 fire extinguishers????

Hi Guys and Gals

Called around today to 8 different places. Haven't got all the responses back yet, but so far prices range from $85 for a used/refilled/certified 5 lber to $185 for a new 10lber. Even found a used 10lber for $100. When I get the rest of the prices, I'll compile and post them tomorrow.

For 85 bucks, I am in. I think CY wants one as well, but I will leave that up to him. I dont even have a turbine I was asking for a friend, but I am going to use one to put out a fire on one of my 9 gas engines I use for lawncare lol. Thanks again Ed. (MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL HAVE A TURBINE )

Re: Co2 fire extinguishers????

If you discreetly ask around at the extinguisher suppliers you may find someone that will give you a halon extinguisher N/C if you tell them what it is for. Another place to check is your local fixed base operator at the airports. Years back a lot of private owners kept Halon extinguishers in their aircraft (I know I did) and all these were replaced a number of years back. There have to be hundreds of these things out there free of charge for the asking.....and as far as the Halon goes and not being allowed to use it.....in our application we may go a lifetime without using it anyway so not a huge threat to our environment.....Ron

Smile Re: Co2 fire extinguishers????

Hi Folks

OK, Here is what I've found:

York Fire Extinguisher - Peter - 905-671-1080 - Airport Road
Used 5lb - $85 + tax

Lumar - Mike - 905-855-9993 - Southdown Road
New 5lb $190 + tax

United Fire Safety - Scott - 905-877-0033 - Georgetown
Used 5lb - $113 + tax
Used 10lb - $120 + tax
Used 15lb - $155 + tax

Safety First - 905-738-4999 - Brampton
New 5lb - $183 + tax

Canadian Industrial Fire - Stu - 416-347-2617 - Oshawa
Used 10lb - $100 + tax

Not all of these companies have the extinguishers ready on the shelf. It may take a day or two for them to prep them.

Enjoy.

Ed
