Too bad you don't have a site like HK that can tell you about all the problems and praises with rimfire, e-flite, axi, hacker, aeolian, etc motors.. Think where they are mostly manufactured....?

I staretd off with expensive motors for my first electrics then after discovering Hobbyking and 40+ Turnigy motors later,, small & large, I will never buy another expensive brand (unless I need a specific configuration).

Elec Re: Electric power for 1/3 scale Jenny?

Quadra 100, 9lbs without muffler, so I'd guess 10- 10 1/2 lbs with.
Rimfire 65cc, 3.2 lb, 4 5000/5S 7lbs approx, basically the same weight! I certainly believe the 65 can spin a 28/30" prop on 10S at slightly higher amps than 12S. That why I suggested the 140/160 CC HV ESc's. Likely 120 amps max to get 5000watts or thereabouts.
It should not be any prblem to achieve 5000 watts from this motor, more than enough for scale flight, which incidentally would be 3300watts (66watts per Lb ).
As for the sound system, I'd make it a good reliable flyer first. The 28 -30" prop may make enough sound to satisfy you. FWIW Doug B

Re: Electric power for 1/3 scale Jenny?

I would get a hacker A80

Much better motor then a rimfire. Iv seen a few smoke (smaller ones) and even some team great plane guys use hacker or eflite motors over them. I do knot know anything on that particular motor however. May be a good choice.

Re: Electric power for 1/3 scale Jenny?

Here is what I have.

http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/pro...roducts_id=553

On a 12S2P A123 pack and spinning an XOAR 28"x12" it pulls 76 amps and turns 4300 rpm. Weight with this pack and a castle HV110 is just a couple of oz more than a G62. There is a guy on either the scale thread or giant scale thread with a 1/3 Fokker D.VII going to use a 100cc with belt drive and he is getting only 100 rpm more on a 28"x14" prop. Mine will be going in a 1/4 Proctor Fokker D.VII.
