Pre coiled tail wire

I looked in vain at my LHS for a spring coiled tail gear wire roughly 1/16" thick and 4" long and wasn't too tightly wound. Couldn't find it on the web either.

Whilst browsing in a local Zellers I looked at those cheap black spring clamps. The ones with the long nose actually have the perfect wire and it is neatly coiled. I got them 4 for a buck so the wires were 25 cents, pre coiled. All I had to do was unscrew the clamp. Cheap, pre coiled gear wire.

The regular clamps are much too strong a spring but the cheap ones like below seem perfect.

Awesome!

I just love it when someone finds an inexpensive solution to a problem, one that is often better than the designed solution. That just may be what I need for the taildragger on my buiding board. Thanks Nuker!

Now if anyone can figure out a use for all the floppy disks I have laying around.....

Dave

The material inside makes great hinges for electrics!

Hey and you can always use the clamps for building if you don't wreck them like nuker did!

Or you can use a rubber band and have the best of both worlds. I use a small elastic and can still use the clamp.

Waste not, want not
