K, I've had Hummingbirds and Venom electrics but I hate the "little electric" getting thrown around thing.

I wanna get into a good quality electric heli that can handle some wind.

Other than heli's I fly everything fixed wing including jets so ya, I've got some thumbs. No, I can't do 3d but I can run a good circuit and hover all day. Don't care about cost so much, but remember I'm looking for basic flight, nothing nuts. Don't have a heli radio but I do have a 10X so there's no reason I can't use that.

Also, where do I buy the thing. Who's got the best prices?

Dale

If you know anyone who flies heli's then getting a good used one might be a good idea....

You can find some nice used trex 450's for almost half of what they cost new.

Yep, I'll be talking to a few people here but I was wanting others opinions as well. Expecially on where to buy, because man, I'll tell you, you do not want to buy anything at the place in Lloyd. Wow high prices.

Well theres nothing too bad about the hobby stores in Edmonton. They usually have the inventory of what you need, and the prices are reasonable. Also check out the heli forums around there too like: EdmHeli.ca or ERCHA.ca . There usually are a bunch of guys there eager to help out someone new.

So welcome to the rotary side of things, and hopefully we'll see you at some AB FF's.

There is a lot of info on larger electric helis here:

http://www.rcgroups.com/electric-heli-talk-17/

I bought the $470.00 Swift 3D Pro package shown here:

http://www.leisuretech.ca/catalog/page1_swift.html

Initially I flew it on some inexpensive $130 4S1P packs with the 11T pinion, for more gentle training and sport aerobatics.

Then as I gained confidence, I changed to the 9T pinion and some 6S1P TP packs and WOW - great performance. Now after over 150 flights it is still going strong.

I find this size of heli is much easier to fly then the smaller ones and are great outdoors even in some pretty heavy winds.

Align is the best bang for your buck

And parts can be found every were .

Only two places I usually shop for Helli related products.

HOBBY ALLEY
http://hobbyalley.com/store/
And these guys are serious about dealing to get a customer clientele and really starting to stock ALL the Align product, give them a shout there in Edmonton.

RC Flight store
http://www.rcflightstore.com/
Ken has been around for a while and tries his best to please, he is in Vancouver but ships fast, He carries almost all Logo line and Align as well

Used is OK if you know the builder, but nothing beats New in box.
and would be beneficial for you to build from scratch so you know your machine.

Take care, maybe take a trip to SHAG for more hands on and real life 3D flight.
