Seamaster 120 problems
Hello; A fellow came to our field with a Seamaster 120 with a Q42 or 50 in it. The story is that, many had tried but no one had managed to successfully fly it.
I had a Seamaster 40 which I flew until it's pylon broke off, but I had no problems flying it, and have seen many 40's fly. The only Seamaster 120 that I had seen was built very heavy, and was skittish to the point where the owner (an older fellow) didn't want to fly it. It only flew twice before it was put away. This seamaster must have a built in problem but, what should be the engine up/left thrust? What is the wing incidence zero? Apart from a saggy elevator tip, it looks aerodynamically clean and good. the C of G seems right on, but it's almost uncontrollable in the air. Any Ideas? |

Off the top I would guess with a Q 50 in it it is way overpowered and top heavy with that big piece of iron mounted above everything. Just my .02 worth.
