Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

If it's just locking up then usually it's software related. All the latest updates for drivers?

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

Yeah,

It could be a software driver issue with the card . I will check my versions on that first.

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

If you can install direct X 10 you must be using vista.
You are going to have to roll back / un-install direct X10 ......
DirectX Support Up to DirectX 8.1
You'll need to load 8.1 from the installation disk/cd.

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

Directx is backwards compatible. I only have directx 10 or 9 on all my computers and have no problems with my sim.

Another question would be, was it working ok before the new hard drive?

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

Yes, it was working ok before the new hard drive !

Drives a guy batty. I installed new graphics drivers now and the color is beautiful.
But .....it still locks up .

The other clue is on a Windows start up....the desktop appears and then I get a black screen for a second, then the desktop re-appears.

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

Is this for Real Flight? If so go to www.knifeedge.com, there is a forum to use, if you want. I've never signed up, just looked around. There seems to be a few people there that say 'use the search function', alot, which won't help you out much, but you might find similiar issues with your video card.

Did you get all the latest drivers for your card?

I downloaded the huge G4.5 updates, and I could never get it to work. I e-mailed them several times (realflight) and never really got any help, and the forum was no help either. I ended up deleting everything, and starting from scratch. Daren

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

Yes Darren, thanks, I have searched knifedge also with their forums. A lot of the related threads ended up with someone saying ....never mind I figured it out! Ha and no more.

Anyway, I think it is something simple in my XP Bios. How do I get a pause in BIOS
during startup? The alt key ? or F? key
I think it is a memory cache fault

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

If you are talking about the m/b bios, use the delete key. But, your bios shouldn't be responsible. You don't want to mess with them if you don't know what you are doing.
Although the 9250 is a bargain bin v/c, it should still have a catalyst control center ... Icon in the toolbar on the right ...... right click > select #1 ati radeon 9250 > select 3D settings ....... That should give you about 8 settings ....... try the different settings in the standard settings ..... if that doesn't correct the problem, please list what your 8 settings are.

Re: 3D Accelerator Trouble

One idea: when you put in the new hd, you had to reinstall everything. Did you allow vista to choose drivers for the card?

What you may want to do is uninstall the current card drivers, re-boot, allow vista to ASK if you want to install drivers it found.

Say no, let me find/install them.

Having the appropriate ATI drivers already downloaded and located in an easy-to-find location, load those drivers.

ATI also has a program that will allow you to erase all traces of previously installed drivers. Use that (it used to be part of the driver download packages.

MS drivers are ok BUT you may will probably get better results using ATI or Omega drivers.
