Truck takes off!

I have a Losi truck with a 550 and Traxxas XL5 but every so often the truck takes off on me. It has a HPI 2.4 TX and RX. what could be causing this? I got the truck used and the entenna is not standing up but rather fixed to along the frame to front suspension rack. Maybe need to put in tube as it is supposed to be?

Re: Truck takes off!

i got a rustler, i have a XL-5 esc and a old gold can 20t motor (i think its goldtech or something like that). im using a futaba reciver and controller (75mhz).

mine will take off too. i think its the esc.
also my esc only seems to work in race mode (forward and brake only). when i try the other mods it acts up.

so it could just be the XL-5 ESC.

Re: Truck takes off!

i dont know, i just got mine 3 days ago. brand new from my buddy.

he just bought a slash but he was putting a mamba max system into it and he sold me the esc and titan 12 for 70$ i havnt put the motor in yet tho.

i know its not my reciver as ive used it before and its not the transmiter as ive tried both of mine with the same results.

it must be the XL-5/

Re: Truck takes off!

Check if your radio system has a fail safe feature (I believe it does) and read up on how it works.

My guess is that you're getting a momentary glitch that forces the fail-safe to kick in.

The problem being that you probably don't have the fail set to full brake. Rather you probably have it set to part or full throttle.

It's also a good idea to set the steering fail-safe for full left or right. That way the car hopefully circles without hitting anything until you can catch it.

Re: Truck takes off!

i got a answer on the other fourm. here is. what he said

:"When I first got my Slash and was going through the modes and instructions. Possibly do you have it on LiPO mode and are running NiMH? Think it said something about odd behavior... Just a suggestion, good luck"

end of post
