Great progress Trev!
Don't the flap linkages get hidden by the inboard pylon? Or are the flap servos in the root by design?

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

I put the flaps servos in the root by design. It is inboard of the inner scale hinge so not visible. I saw this on one of Sandro's F18's and really liked the design so went with that!!

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

Well.. been quiet for the past 3 days, but lots of progress

Got the wings glassed with 3/4oz cloth and blocked sanded everything after some primer and Icing.

Came out super well... ton of work but so happy with the outcome.

I will add the rivets and panel lines later.

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

Also got the ailerons and flaps done, glassed and primed. Also experimented a bit with rivets and panel lines but they aren't pronounced enough.

You can see 1/2 of the scale hinges installed and the control horns.

I was lucky enough to have Sandro's YA F18 sitting here so easy to copy!!

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

Forgot to mention... the 4 strips are functional covers that go between the top of the TE of the wing and the LE of the ailerons and flaps and articulate down to keep the gap closed... just like the real thing.

More details on this later.

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

A few pictures of the wings on the fuse.

Still need to do the bodywork to tighten up the gap between wing and fuse.

Next step will be to put the other halves of the scale hinges in the wings

Re: Build Thread... A few Yellow Aircraft F18's

This AM I started on hinging the flaps

Love the looks of these scale hinges.

Ailerons will take a bit more work... tonight
