matter of opinion and tecnique... i have a AE GT i got not long ago. im not a racer by any means, just purly basher and i think the truck is great for beginners. i dont do anything to maintain it (except basics for the engine, battery, and i like clean vehicles sometimes so i clean it.) its really easy to control other then the fact that you cant peg the throttle at low speeds on dust or it will spin backwards. Otherwise i would say the HPI MT2 is great too. my friend started all of RC with it and its a fun truck (we switch trucks sometimes for fun).

if your stuck on a big monster truck (i almost said 1/8 truck but the Revo is a 1/10 somehow....?) then i would say Savage is awesome, but i dont think any big monsters are good for beginners. i have never had a Revo, but i like them too.

thats my opinion, but like i said, its a matter of opinion and tecnique (ie driving, tool skills, mechanical skills...)

the savy is reaaly tough it the best out there.

but the tmaxx would probably be a better all round truck if you actually are going to race

I'd say the savage. my dad owns one have driven it personally fast reliable and can take an absolute beating with jumping and bashing around if you want it to.

don't get a Savage...they are bears to work on.....i guess the new Savage X is better but out of your price range......for your money p/u a used Tmaxx....be very carefull....always buy locally if you can and request a "see it run" meeting and go from there....you can get a great truck used if you are careful and smart about it...my first nitro was a new RTR Evader and it was a blast to drive and break and fix...and break and fix and drive...so on...so on..
this hobby is a blast....but it is expensive. 30-35 bucks a gallon just for fuel
i just spent close to 3 bills on a few new parts and getting ready for a season of bashing.....both my Tmaxxs were used and bought or traded locally....

Unless you want to run electric vehicles and only drive them as fast as say a "Newbright Hummer" and never hit anything ever...then you will need the cash for the purchase of a vehicle and some cash for maintenance, fuel and upkeep..never mind upgrades

have fun whatever you decide this is after all a "Hobby"
