Mid-Michigan IMAC - Jackson

Just looking at the calendar and noticing that Mid-Michigan in Jackson is only 3 weeks away from next Saturday. Yikes ! Practice situation better improve quickly around here.

So who is coming to Michigan this year ? Or should I say, who is coming to the Parlour for ice cream ?

Re: Mid-Michigan IMAC - Jackson

Well, after all the planning to attend, even without practicing, my plans are up in smoke

I'll be lucky to get to my own event (NOIC )
there's always next year, I guess

Re: Mid-Michigan IMAC - Jackson

Thats how I'm feeling about this year Craig! There's always next year... I'm still trying to get my plane in the air, I'm going to make a push this week as I have some free nights and maybe get it going for the long weekend. Contest wise I'm looking at Stoney Creek and NOIC, but I'm not sure about anything else. Maybe the second Ottaw contest. I thought about the Michigan contest, but I have a bit of flying to do before I'll feel ready for a competition. And its a long drive for something I'm not sure about!

Bill:

Kent, Lee and myself are planning to attend also........if we get some decent practice weather. My only practice so far has been with a 26cc Funtana and a stick plane. I am actually much better with the stick plane.

Maybe we will just go for the ice cream afterall.

Also, I haven't received my passport yet. After a very interesting border crossing episode while going to Toledo, I finally decided to get a Canadian Passport after being here for 45 years and a Canadian citizen for 35 years.

My Aeroworks 260 is finally done and the engine (DLE111) was brought to life last Saturday. The maiden will be soon.

Brendan - I think we are all in the same boat re practice, as a matter of fact you almost need a boat and a plane on floats to even contemplate flying this past week. Ridiculous weather.

In any case Mike is a great contest CD and he goes out of his way to make us Canadians feel welcome. I may fly like crap in Jackson, (I might be ready for Basic) but I don't need practice to be able to go to the Parlour and eat ice cream !!

Re: Mid-Michigan IMAC - Jackson

Well we finally had our own version of maidenfest here in Azilda with Brendan Grace flying his Aeroworks Extra 260 with the monster DL 111 pulling it. I am very impressed with this engine and may have to upgrade my ZDZ 100 Also Fred Pella maidened his 50cc Edge 540 (well I flew it but he was living every momen) and it too flew with only two cliks of aileron trim. It was very gusty but all including my own trusty Aeroworks Extra got home safely.
The weahter has been the pits everywhere lately and trying to get in the air let alone practice for the upcoming season is next to impossible. Sure hope mother nature starts to settle down a bit...and soon!

Re: Mid-Michigan IMAC - Jackson

I'll be going to p/u my Bill Hempel 100cc Hiperbipe. It shipped from Florida on Monday amd beeing delivered to my good friend and CD Mike Roxberry! And it's IMAC legal!

Won't be flying as not only have I not been able to practice but have nothing ready to fly and with work schedule won't have time to get anything ready,

Be warned I have offered Mike the use of my Judging Skills(?) for Basic through Advanced, not ready to judge Unlimited yet.

Bill don't forget about the great steak house prior to the ice cream. Oh and the Jackson club members always put on a good lunch spread. Ummmmmmm Sloppy Joes.

Well that NASTY 4 letter word......WORK has tied me up all winter.

I had to get BDEGAN to assemble my 30cc MSX-R for me, thanx again Brad!

I might give it a shot with that, if I can get out and fly durig the week but like Bill said the weather is justm NOT co-operating. It is so bad here in Mississauga that the City has closed all soccer/fotball and baseball fields fo fear of the damage to the grass if people use them right now.

Has anyone checked the Michigan weather to see how it has been? Maybwe out Merica Cuzins arn't getting any practice in either. If the weather has been what it was like Muncie IN then I would say they are in the same boat!

They are probably having similar problems athough they will have had 3-4 contests by the time Jackson rolls along, depends on whether they have flyable weather for them all. I see they had Terre Haute the end of April, then Clinton, then Morristown, Indiana this weekend and Columbus next weekend. Who cares, we will just eat sloppy joes and ice cream .........
