Re: computer power suply
This guy just did a build thread.
https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=202628 http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Com...b-Power-Supply There are lots of threads on RCG also. I wouldn't bother with a regular PSU though unless I had no other choice. Get a server power supply. Get them for a good price on Ebay. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1292514

Re: computer power suply
An alternative is a RV converter. Got mine on EEEEKBay for $70.00 NIB a couple of yrs ago, it can provide up to 50 amps @ 13.5 V without heating, has an internal fan, and it's hook up and go.

Re: computer power suply
Yeah, computer power supplies are pretty limited in the current they can supply. I have used one to drive a small charger for NiCd and NiMH flight packs, and it worked ok, but any of the larger chargers that can handle LiPos with more than 4 cells need much more current than you can get from standard computer supplies.
Great Hobbies and other hobby shops sell power supplies for the various new chargers they are selling. |

Re: computer power suply
+1 for a server power supply. I have one out of an old Dell machine that can do 16A at 12V.
Some people have used two server supplies in series that provides 48V but it requires floating the ground on one of the supplies. Dangerous if you don't know what your doing. |

Re: computer power suply
Forget 350 watts.
1000 watts for about 40 bucks: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DL380-G5-1000...item1e7f84a7f2

Re: computer power suply
I just use a standard 12v/10 amp bench top power supply for my chargers, never had a problem, alternatively, you can just use a 12v car/rv battery.
