New Charger?
I thought most of my batteries had died but it turns out my Triton has passed on instead, as it claimed to put 14,000+ ma into a 600ma pack. The battery wasn't even warm so I would assume the there is a problem with the Triton's charging circuit.
I don't want a mine is bigger than yours arguement but since I need to get a new charger/cycler I'm asking for opinions of what to get of whats currently availible and most importantly WHY that particular unit would be a good. My needs are pretty simple charging/cycling mostly ni-cad as I haven't had a need to move to li-pos yet. It can have an input of 12V or 110V. Thanks, Matthew |

Re: New Charger?
I have been using the Hobbico Accu-Cycle now for years to charge my NiCad and NiMH Tx and Rx packs and it has never let me down. You could not ask for more simplicity as you only select the cell count and MAh charge rate. It used a 110V source, so I also had their 12V "Quick Field Charger" and the same cables.
Both my chargers have been updated with newer versions, the Accu-Cycle with the "ELITE" and the QFC with a MKII, and I imagine either would be even more capable. I still have found no reason to replace the current units. p.s. I'm not a Hobbico purist, just worked out this way when I went looking for gear.

Re: New Charger?
Triton Jr. I have one and like the ease of use, many functions, and can handle all types of batteries, should you ever need the charger for other types. Also, it is a nice compact unit, but it is also 12V. I have had mine for about 2 years and it serves me well, as I do use it for my NiCd, NiMh, and LiPo batteries. It can also be had for under 100 new, and as low as 30 on here used.
Looking forward to all the responses too just to get an opinion on what is out there and how they work. |

Re: New Charger?
Thanks, Cougar429 and NEW222 for responding.
Given the popularity of electric models now, I thought there might be variety of chargers/cyclers to choose from. Guess not. I'll see what I find at the hobby shop tomorrow. Matthew |

Re: New Charger?
At the hobby shop I was reading the boxes for the different Tritons and the Accucycle and they read pretty much the same as far as specs go.
I went with the Tirton2EQ because it has input of 110V AC or 12V DC also I like having the readout tell me how much mAh is going in the pack. I may pick up an Accucycle quick field charger at a later date as I know several who have them and have good results. The pack in my first post that the faulty Triton claimed to put 14,000+ ma into, cycled fine with the new Triton2EQ, 762ma 5.64V numbers close to what I've seen on other new packs. Even the older pack I thought was dead is cycling ok. Matthew |
