Thumbs up MAN's Canadian Content Section

Don't know if this is old or new news.

Just found out that Model Airplane News is doing a "Canadian Content Section" with our very own Ken Park as the contributing author!

Very cool that MAN has decided to acknowledge us up here with our very own section!

Re: MAN's Canadian Content Section

My understanding is that the CDN content is only avaialble in the magazines destined for Canada so our southern neigbours do not get it. It is still nice to see though.

Re: MAN's Canadian Content Section

Hi Chris

I'll tell the story as I saw it. I was approached by Gerry Yarrish of MAN last summer at the Fathers Day Fun/Fly in Kingston - Gerry had heard by other I had written some stuff for the MAAC mag in past and asked if I could contribute to a new Canadain Content Section.
I liked the idea and did my best to send him an article in almost every month. Since MAN didn't have to scramble each month to keep this section going they asked if I would like to have about 1/2 of the section as my own Column. My deadlines are the 15th of each month.

Note this Canadian Content section is only printed in Canada and the AD-Space is filled with only Canadain companies and hobbystores. So this Canadain content is a free 5-8 page insert added at the printers for the Canadain public - Gerry Yarrish and Debra Cleghorn have gotten back tons of great feedback on this section so far!

Re: MAN's Canadian Content Section

The current on the stands May issue here has a great story on Malcolm Gray and his Compter Swift followed by behind the scene look at Great Hobbies. Check my Fliker under Sets for all my photos

The June issue will have Top Gun Super Cub by Graeme Mears and a Winter Flying part by Bill McIvor. Honestly I think Trevor got bumped due to the winter flying needed to be seen before the sumer got here.

The July issue will feature Trevor Brum 58% Pitts special and Dynamic Hobbies of Ottawa

The June and July material has already gone to the printers!!!!

Starting with the July or August issue should be the start of my own column section of the Canadain Content. My deadlines are the 15th of every month for MAN

The article I submitted on making the fibreglass cowl should run in the big world wide version if they print it - They said its the kind of story there after.

So there it is a sneak peak or update on MAN from my end.

PS: I will be down in the Hamilton Area for Easter - My Dads place is in Mt Hope - I would like to bring my camera out that weekend and shoot some of the local RC action if Iam invited.

Re: MAN's Canadian Content Section

Hi Guys

I've had a couple of emails from guys say Gee what a shame the US guys don't get to see what is making news in Canada - So I FWD this exact question said letter to MAN and this is the repsonse I got direct for EXC Editor Debra Cleghorn. So in a nut shell its financial.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for passing this note along. Just so you’re aware, the Canadian section has less expensive ads and is a smaller print run, so it makes sense financially. If we charged regular rates, Canadian companies couldn’t afford to advertise, and if we ran this section in all the magazines, we’d have a much higher print bill, so you can see how the idea falls apart.

Best,

Debra

With that explained Iam very happy here as their MAN for the Canadian Content Section of MAN

I almost feel there's a joke in that last statement someplace but its a bit dry eh!
