This is one nice plane!. I test flew mine today and I was not disappointed although it was only one 5 minute flight (weather turned bad). I will post some pics after a few more flights.
It floated in with no apparent tendency to tip stall on approach. I was getting worried I wouldn't be able to slow it down enough! The stall was a more of a mush but I have the rates very low at the moment. As far as building the arf it is very straight forward with 3 exceptions.
#1 the tank is supposed to be mounted in the nose. I think this is a bad idea unless you run a non pumped engine. So I made a tank mount under the wing tube.

#2 the horizontal stabs are designed removable but there is no way to build it stock with the tail tight against the fuse. I fixed that by greasing the covering and loading up the halves with silicone.

#3 the 4-40 bolts for the surface horn linkage are to short. I went out and got 1/2 inch tapered bolts and used jam nuts and lock tight.

Everything else is dead nuts and very, very well done! I highly recommend this plane! my setup is this:

Moki 2.1 radial backplate
Cline fuel reg.
2300 mah jr Ni-MH 5 cel
Apc 20x8w
JR 811 throttle
JR 8611a Rudder
Hitec 5945 Aileron
Hitec 5955 elev
JR 770 FM rx
Heavy duty servo extension, switch
Stock hardware
Note: the servos are dramatic overkill but I wanted big servos for future bigger planes.

I used the stock 22oz tank. The moki is 35cc of glow fuel guzzling fury. I already had the engine. I think the new BME 55 at 2.1lbs would be unbelievable.

I figure I will go through at least a gallon of 5% per weekend. While gas is obviously cheaper it would cost me $1000 to change to a gas motor on top of the da50 with can mufflers I am already buying for another plane. I get 5% for 14.99/gallon so that translates into 66 gallons of glow fuel in the Moki to justify another gas motor this year.

Great news Russ!
How did it go as far as balancing? I take it was not an issue?
Where did you end up balancing within the suggested range?

The sugested range is +/- 3/4 of an inch so I centered it. I got 3 more flights today, I wanted more but the weather was not co-operating. Point rolls are a joke they are so easy. I tried some loops and rolls but the wind was to gusty for any major trimming. As far as I can tell so far their is no major coupling in knife edge or anything else.

The glow fuel won't be to bad as I have been flying in between 1/4 and 1/3 throttle. Half throttle is tons for uplines. I have not gone to full!

I am really excited about spending time trimming this thing out. If it flies this well now it will only get better.

Hangar 9 - Extra 260

Thanks for the reveiw and the alert

Mine just arrived by post today. :P I selected the plane for my Super Tigre 25cc. Won't run circles around anything but should fly well enough for my needs.

Sweet. I haven't done it yet but I would suggest epoxying the horizontal stabs to the fuse.

The Carbon Fibre landing gear WILL delaminate at the corners. This is a know problem and I have my lhs trying to get me the aluminum from Horizon.
This plane flys great, really light and stable. Because of this it is hard to slow it down for landing at the start. Until you get to know her a headwind will be your friend on landing. I can land it in about 100 -150 feet in still conditions but the first 10 times I used up about 500'

If you have any other questions shoot me a pm.

This plane excels at 3d if you are interested. Blenders/ Knife edge spins / flat spins are easy and so is torque rolling. It will tumble on low rates (on high rates it looks like it's on crack) easy. Put some good servos on this as the surfaces are large and it is quite precise if you want it to be.
