Re: Us currency exchange gone wild

I don't think it matters much where you buy your stuff, as a lot of Canadian retailers have upped their prices to coincide with the US dollar, some increases as much as 40% and thats a lot more than the difference in the dollar. Just check todays prices against prices of four months ago and you'll be amazed. I'm going to TRY to refrain from buying any more hobby stuff till spring. ( I know that will be toughto do ) ken

Yes i am putting purchases on hold as well. I want to buy an Extreme Flight Extra 50CC but, since i won't be able to fly it until spring i am going to bide my time until hopefully the dollar recovers somewhat. Since there is no Canadian Dealer for Extreme Flight i will be at the mercy of the exchange!!

But if you buy gasoline for it now you'll make up the difference!

Shipping costs should be way down.

You are dreaming.

$12.39 to ship a lightweight PA-18 interior kit from Ontario to Alberta via Canada Post 2 days ago. Fuel surcharge of $1.05 and package weight of 388 grams - less than a pound.

I wouldn't want to be catering to us right now as a hobby supplier. What an arduous task that would be; making sure you sell at an affordable rate in an effort to make sure you can replace and keep your doors open, yikes!

Price hikes must be hard them!

Re: Us currency exchange gone wild

It just doesn't make any sense sometimes. I just received an esc in a paper envelope that was 10x12", from North Carolina (I live in MB)...care to guess? How about $1.90!!! Of course the seller charged $8 (lol), but I guess someone has to make some money.

Hey I'm sorta happy as my wife and I sell on ebay in USD. Some reason US Buyers can't or won't convert their dollar . So we are as of today getting an extra. Its $1.2458 Yeh paypal makes a little for doing nothing. They won't let you transfer USD into Canada even if you have a US bank account here. The other option I have is when I buy I already have USD for United Hobby as they take paypal

Hifly
I have a friend thats with ebay and this is from the horses mouth
I wouldn't be bragging just yet about all your profit . Canadian Federal tax is after ebayers making to much money and not claiming it.
