Hey Guys,

I am home from work early and was browsing around for other giant scale plane builds and came across these pictures from Octobers Monster planes down in Florida. Very Sad Sight to See!!!

What goes up.....

Note: these are not my images. they were taken from RC Universe...

Re: Monster Planes Midair 2011

By the first 3 pictures it looks like they were going to do some formation flying ----- missed judged their distance ----

Two very nice planes --- a hard one to take --- hope they are still friends

I'm quite surprised the red one couldn't get it back and dead stick land it. He had a stalled engine and broken prop.
The silver and yellow one didn't have a chance

All that happened pretty well right in front of me. They had flown a few circuits in close formation before that happened. The same fellow owned both planes, and both guys are good fliers. They say they will be rebuilt and back flying next year.

I was down there with my 40% Waco.

I looked at those photos and thought the same thing.

Last year I too had a mid air that stalled my engine - but I was able to dead stick it home, some guys see a strike and walk away thinking that it is all over - I was taught to keep flying the plane until the LAST Piece stops moving!

Training and reaction time, with a healthy measure of luck can save your plane!

That is some awesome photography of an unfortunately close formation flight.

That is even worse! Man to own both planes in the midair. That double hurts.

Thanks for the info!

Re: Monster Planes Midair 2011

looks like if the crash had happened at a higher altitude the red plane probably could have pulled out of the dive.

That last picture goes to show how dangerous an out of control plane could be. Imagine that was your head rather then a car door.
