Max: That is cool. As I mentioned, I have the plans for the Redbox and the construction looks a tad oldschool. Love it. Let me know if you ever want to sell, I might be interested.

Dave: Thanks for the search. Yep, I think I saw the cowls, but it is indeed the canopy that I need. I could fab up a cowl in a pinch but a perfect canopy is outside my reach.

The slender nose configuration of this thing is begging for an electric conversion....

True, while I'm not a big electric fan, the P-39 is indeed a perfect candidate for that. Gets awful tight squeezing a nitro in the nose, along with gear.

When the kit arrives, I'll check, I might have drawn up templates for all the parts, but not sure. Hopefully tomorrow I'll know!

Re: Top Flite P-39, Gold Edition

OK, P-39 is now back home! The good news, I've got 2 sets of all the plastics, canopy, cowl, wing fillets, exhausts, etc, and tons of wood. Bad news, no templates. I'll dig around the house later, but they may be lost. I'm pretty sure someone sent me a set of traced parts, but that was a few years ago! At least I've got some spares, especially the canopy. Also have an aftermarket cockpit kit for it. I'd already installed elevator, rudder, aileron, flap servos, as well as the mains, so just need a matching nose wheel. I'll have to power up the retracts though, and see if they are 90 degree, or 85, the retracts sit flush with the wing, and there's a fair bit of dihedral. If they are 90's, I've got a set of 85's I can use, and then use the 90's for the Hollywood Zero! Pics to fol.

Shots of the two boxes, all the parts, as well as wing and fuse. I'm going to get the wing tips on today, as well as opening up the hatches for all the servos. Then if I can get the sanding done today, I'll start glassing the wing.

Wow, that is awesome.

Looking forward to more photos.

A really interesting warbird that we just don't see that often...

Hi Wayne. Yes, I will keep you in mind if I decide to give up this bird

On the other hand, electric conversion would make a great build project

Re: Top Flite P-39, Gold Edition

They are rare, and I'd eventually like to do a 1/5th P-39. Just cleaning things up, running the last servo extensions, then I can finish closing up the top of the wing center section. One wing tip now shaped and sanded, second to go, and rounding of the leading edges. On track to get the top or bottom of the wing glassed tonight, then the other 1/2 tomorrow.

One of the schemes I'm considering.
