A very good friend of mine give me this Ultimate last night along with the covering and servos to finish it..(Thanks Peter)He bought it from a member of our club that is an absolute master when it comes to building aircraft ( and alot of other things )

John drew up his own plans based off of 3 views and other plans for this 66" wingspan Ultimate and basically scratch built the whole airplane other than landing gear and tailwheel assembly and I believe the wheel pantsAll surfaces are hinged with flat hinges and have a piece of piano wire the full length of each surface that is removable. He built his own cowl, cabane structure, canopy and all control horns and interplane struts are hand built out of aluminum. It's a fantastic airplane.

It should weigh between 15-16lbs when complete and has a Brison 3.2 for power.1-5302,4-9202s,2-9402s on the surfaces.

I have to tell you that John has also built the Carden 35% Extra 330s I own and he's building a Dalton 42% Extra 260 for me right now.I also have a Carden 30% Extra 300s that he scratch built from Carden plans.

I'm absolutely ecstatic with this gift ( can you tell).Anyway I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Here's a few pics.

Wow, she's a beauty.

She looks light and strong, which makes for a great flyer.

Hope it files great.

With friends like that who needs BEST friends.

Looks great. I had someone I had never met before give me a biplane. His name is Jim McIntyre. The plane is a Great Lakes and was originally built by Ron Chapman. It has a 78" span and will need a ZDZ80 for power. I did not publicly thank Jim as I wasn't sure he wanted people to know he gave away planes. I certainly did thank him profusely in person. It was the nicest thing someone has ever done for me in terms of gift giving. I think about how much joy it brought me and I know that I will one day do the same for someone else. People that have this kind of generosity are truly rare on this planet. I hope to have the plane in the air this coming spring although my job at Ford is looking like that might not be possible. It will fly in the next 3 years for sure and Jim will certainly have his turns at the sticks.

I love this hobby.

Congratulations on your new gift. The best way to say thanks is to fly it and love it.

Sweet looking rig Jack. I remember you and Peter talking about that plane in the fall. Glad to see you will be getting her airborne.
