I melted mine as well - they seem to be the weak link in the Duratrax tranny.

From what I hear, a common swap is to replace the Duratrax diff gear with the diff gear from an Associated B2/T2 (part #9365) which is supposedly the same size but is made of a more durable material. You also have to change the 5x9mm bearings for 5x8mm (Duratrax part #DTXC1523 or Traxxas part #272. I haven't personally tried this swap, but intend to in the near future. If your LHS has these parts in stock, it might be worthwhile for you to give it a try.

The actual T2 bearing won't work. It's SAE rather than metric - something like 3/16"x5/16". The inner diameter (4.76mm) is too small to fit over the Evader outdrive (5mm). 5/16" = 7.94mm so the 5x8mm bearing will just fit (with a little persusion) in the 5/16" hole in the B2 diff gear.

yay the associated gear works, i did have to drill out the hole abit to fit the 8mm bearing in but it works, the outdrives seem to be alittle small because the gear has longer slots for the balls. but i will try it and see how it works out and if it slips or not.
