One last thought before I make a final decision. Does anyone have any info/comments about the Thunder Tiger Raptors? Seem to be cheap, and readily available for parts.

Re: Recommended cheap helicopter

I personally don't have any experience with TT, but for the most part they seem to get decent reviews.

Are you looking at the Raptor electric or nitro? I'm going to assume nitro (Raptor .30)

Re: Recommended cheap helicopter

Yeah, everything I've read about the TT Raptor nitros has been mostly good, and if you can find a reliable source for parts, even better.

That said, Dennis P on here (HeliFarm) sells Century if that's your cup of tea. He's a great guy and very knowledgeable, and I know he takes good care of his customers.

Re: Recommended cheap helicopter

Well, came across a deal I couldn't refuse. Found a guy locally that was selling a couple of his machines and today I picked up the following:

Raptor 50 SE
Inolab servos
Align 620 on tail
Spartan 760 gyro
TT53 engine
3200mA battery
**needs receiver

Raptor 30
Futaba 401 gyro with S9254 servo
OS37
**needs servos, receiver, battery

Pile of extra parts including a spare set of blades for the Raptor 30, full frame set, fins, tail boom, miscellaneous rotor head parts, etc.

$625 for the lot. I'm sure I'll be happy with the both of them.

Re: Recommended cheap helicopter

Just cleaned them up a little bit. The canopy stickers on the Raptor 30 were in horrible shape, so I took them off, I'll paint it up later.

Because it was cheap and super easy to repair. I think the worst crash I had with one, I had it up and running again the same day for less than $100.

So, as such, I'm looking for something similar. A good flyer, preferably nitro powered, cheap, cheap and easy to repair with a readily available supply of replacement parts. I might consider an electric, but I don't care for the smaller helis. The shuttle rotor diameter was around 4', and that's small enough for me. I live in Saskatchewan and wind is a fact of life.

Re: Recommended cheap helicopter

Those are all a lot lower end than I was looking for. I ended up picking up a couple of used Raptors locally.
