Well, it appears my problems are solved. This afternoon, after a few flights with my Jett .46 powered Q500 rocket machine (yeah, its a thrill as great as the jets!) I took the R54 out of the truck and set it up.

I did a "calibration run", which in Behotec & Projet speak is an automatic run where the ECU does a start up, takes the engine from idle to 1/2 throttle slowly, back to idle and then to full, and back to idle to record the pump voltages and I guess do some sort of calibration internally.

The calibration run went well, and I took the opportunity afterwards to try my throttle hold, and turned off my transmitter - the engine shut off in a second. Good.

Then, I did two starts and had two AWESOME flights. The engine is starting great and running even better. I cant believe how smooth and fast the engine accelerates up and down. Makes it a real pleasure to fly. The Reaction is a blast! With only 3 6 minute flights under my belt, I am flying it like no other jet I have had yet (allthough my Phoenix is a great flyer, I think the low cost of the Reaction makes me a little more comfortable flying low and fast, and doing more "stuff").

All in all, I am so glad I bought the J55HP for the R54. The kero start is amazingly simple and very reliable.

And I know I have said it before, but man, these Behotec engines are quiet. The 55 is much, much quieter than my Wren 54, and has none of that high pitch squeel/whine which tends to hurt the ears the most, when starting up.

I know whatever my next new turbine purchase is, it will be a Behotec.

So, either the rerouting of cables or degaussing, or both cured what was ailing the engine.

AJC
