im glad you like the pants... there my lazy weekend pants.. lol...
anyways..

Total there is probably about $900 - $1000 into it so far... it seems to add up...

Breakdown of a grand:

Spektrum DX6 = $225 (servos died too.. there pretty cheesy)
TREX 450 XL kit = $260
Brushless motor = $75
Castle Creations Phoenix 25amp ESC = $80
Hitec HS-55 = 20 - 25 x3 (3 needed for the swashplate)
Futaba GY 240 Gyro = $150
Heli direct frame = $70
Lipo Battery = $80
charger Intellipeak ICE = $160

total = $1160

Ok... i guess there is a bit over a $1000 there... but if I was lucky and the spektrum servos worked.. that would have saved $60 - 75. The frame is also an upgrade.. so take off $70 ... its still gonna cost about $1000 to get started...

although you can get different chargers... I had the ICE and didnt need to buy a lipo charger... so again take off $160 for that...

you are gonna be looking around $900 to start... atleast.. but in the end to hear the blades cutting through the air.. you know its worth it...

it depends what micro heli... you can get a hummingbird heli RTF for like $300 or so...

or you can go bigger and get a TREX or a SHOGUN 400 and spend $1000..

it depends on your budget and how big you want to get into it..

personally I tried a Century Hummingbird and it was nothing but problems.. The tail motor would never be powerful enough so it would always spin in circles...

The bigger the heli the more stable they are. Micro heli's are the most unstable so it requires more attention than the trex or shoguns. Nitro helis are by far the most stable because of their size. But in any case, if you learn with a smaller heli, moving up to a bigger size will help a ton.

Nitro is a mess tho... I like the idea of being able to fly in a gym and house... and outside... nitro is basically outside only..

Nitro.. well basically any heli is like a flying lawnmower...

It is easier to fly a larger and heavier heli though... but crashes tend to cost more...
