Line off the exhaust - what's it for?

One of the first things I noticed when I removed the cowl on my SBach was this line connected to the exhaust - it disappears into the fuse near the canister.

Not sure what this is for - could it be smoke? Any insight is welcome!

Judging by the direction of the arrow on the fitting I figure whatever it is feeds into the exhaust.

looks like a smoke fitting and a check valve to me. is there a second fuel tank?

No second tank (unless it's in the canister tunnel, which seems unlikely). Perhaps it was plumbed for smoke but never completed.

Smoke, Follow line, might be a pump attatched.

Re: Line off the exhaust - what's it for?

A gentle tug on the line and the mystery was solved.

I'm guessing the original owner added the line to keep his options open for smoke in the future. I did get a picture inside the tunnel...

No room for smoke equipment in there, nor evidence anywhere in or on the plane of a pump and second tank ever having been installed.

Makes sense that the plated fitting with the arrow in the line would be a check valve, so I'm probably going to leave the whole thing as is - no need to cap the tube. And since I'm new to giant scale I don't need the added complexity of smoke. Wouldn't be prudent. Not at this juncture.

Re: Line off the exhaust - what's it for?

Hey John

It's a smoke line option that wasn't set up ... easier to have the line connected and not have a mess inside the cowl with exhaust residue
