Anyone know of a paint that is glow-fuel-proof without using a clear coat, and also comes in matt (dull) finish??

Thanks,
John

Brodak makes flat dope.

Available from Skycraft. He has quite a selection.

Try the new KlassKote I am sure he can provide flat hardener for his paint.

Believe it or not I've had good success with cheep ole Trimclad Rust Paint sold just about every where and its only around $5.00 for a reqular sized spray can.

I've painted a whole 1/4 scale Balsa USA J3 Cub with this paint and it works great, dries reasonably fast, looks good and is very durable! AND yes it is fuel proof. Also painted an Ace Seamaster 40 so I know its waterproof too! Really, the only down side is there are only a limited number of colours so if you need an exact scale match, then I guess you'll have to go to the expensive stuff!

The products mentioned above are very good but if I can get such good results at about a 1/4 the price, then why not?

Fuel Proof Paint

Hi,

I've tried Tremclad from Canadian Tire and I know that it is not fuel proof for 15% Nitro.

However, I have been told by Jim G. of the KWFD, that the CTC's own brand of paint (I think its called Armourcoat) is, but I have not tried it yet.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

I look on the label for acetone and toulene. Wally mart sells some spray can's ( Colourplace label) for $3.50 which I use on my spads. I use 15% fuel and it works for me. If it has those 2 ingrediants you should be okay. I would test on some scrap first as always.
