The current Style of Radio systems that are popular, are the 2.4 GHz Digital system. Lots of manufacturers out there, lots of options. You can have something simple or Super High Tech, depending on your bank account and the type of model that you have.

FPV - you'll have talk to the fellows that enjoy that venue. Again; lots of options, how much fun can you afford?
Hi, Thanks for the info. If you must fly in visual range of the pilot, why are people allowed to fly using FPV goggles? They can't see their plane.

I would say just because something hasn't been done yet doesn't mean it can't be - but this has been done before. You tube has lots of warbirds flying FPV.
I can't count how many times I have heard "I fly real airplanes so I can do it". usually they are the toughest guys to teach as they have preconceptions on how it is done.

I have lived in NS and you need at least 300 to 400 ft of smooth grass to land on. Good luck finding that.

Let us know how you make out.

Has to stay within visual range of the spotter.

Of course you can do it, just not the way you plan to.

Perfect! Thanks. That makes sense. Do you know if the rules specify where the spotter has to stand relative to the person operating the model or how many spotters you can have? Assuming your all in voice communication of course.

The spotter has to be able to the transmitter and regain control of the airplane.

Here is the challenge: You build a Top flite warbird of your choice and successfully fly it with FPV and I will buy you a case of beer.
