Get a feel for the buggy first. No need to hammer it right away.

With the size of these engines octane isn't an issue. If the smell of gas gets to you you can also try Coleman camping fuel. Some guys prefer the smell. Myself, it reminds me of cooking while I camp. Gas all the way.

Temps aren't an issue.

You may want to rest between tanks because it will be awhile before you run out. I ran in Feb weather after I rebuild my old 1/6 to a 30.5CC for 50 minutes straight!

the flywheel provides the cooling needed around the cylinder head , like nitros ..keep the air filter cleaned and covered at all times , regulart fuel is what you should use with higher compression engines is the only time needed for higher octane , and use quality synthetic oil , pretty simple engines ,
Go have some fun

Is the Airtronics synthesized? If not I'd get a Spektrum later on. Amsoil sounds fine. Is it a new Baja? If so it should come with the oil.

Just to give you an idea of the strenght of the Baja.

I got mine in april of this year, put it together and with out a break in at all I went straight out to a plowed farmers field (by the way that was me at t-burg in the farmers field with the baja) and proceded to beat the living * out of my baja for a good 40 min.

It hase recieved numerous beatings since then all in construction sites and all with little to no concern for the motor and to this day it still starts on the 2nd to 3rd pull and runs with no problems!

So long story short. If you take the time to clean the air filter and always make sure you have a good oil mixture there will be no problems. Oh and the best part is never being out in a field and finding out you glow plug is dead!!!

Sorry to intrude but might as well ask a question while this thread is here. I've always ran nitro. Engines are hard to start when left all day/overnight in the car trunk in freezing temperatures. With the Baja being a pull start, will the engine also be hard to start when (very) cold? Thanks...

No...prime the bulb, close the choke, and pull. It will start.
