A beeper to locate a crashed airplaine...

I saw a member at my club with a brand new four stars 60, I heard he installed something to help him if his plane crash or fall in forest or a corn land.

It's something when he turn on his Tx, the beeper went on, and when he turn on his RX the beeper went off, so if his plane fall in the forest and he know approx wher is it, he turn off is TX and the beeper goes on, so it's help him to find his airplane....

If somebody know that system I would be please to hear where I can find it....

Thanks

Yves,

there is also a unit that has it's own power source (a 9 volt battery). That way even if the battery becomes unplugged from the receiver, you still hear the sound.

I believe GWS imports one but I'll have to see if I can find the info

If your handy with circuits, for about $10, you can build your own. I just posted the circuit in a different thread. Look under:

"General RC Discussion"

and the thread for

"Aircraft Recovery System"

If your system is FM and Positive pulse, it will work. (Works on ALL my Futabe radios that are FM - Will NOT work on PCM systems... See thread for more)

Here is a unit I have built (twice) and I know it works!

http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/locator.htm

I have had practical experience in using it to locate my planes. Also, if you shut your Tx off and forget your receiver, it squeals at you. If you turn your receiver on first (There are safety reasons not to) and it DOESN'T squeal, it may be because someone has a transmitter turned on on your frequency.

As mentioned above it doesn't work if the battery gets unplugged from your receiver, but it could easily be run from its own battery (a 9 volt would work) and all you would need is the negative and signal wires to an unused channel on your receiver.

Note, the noisemaker works far better if it is vented to the outside. A single thickness of paper attenuates the sound very noticeably, so merely dropping it into your fuse will not be good. I cut a hole in the bottom of the fuse the size of the transducer (beeper) and spot glue it into place.

Emergency Locator Beacon

Hi Ya'll:
I purchased two locators from Sunset RC ( bought out by Great Hobbies).
These require a 9 volt battery for power. They have two buzzers each that can be heard approx 50yds away or better.
They work with PPM(FM) or PCM, however a channel that does not have "fail-safe" must be used.
These units are (or where?) made by ARROW Manufacturing in Hamilton Ont. .......No website, but here is their address.....

Found One

If your still looking,

These do work wonders, I've seen them used at my LHS!

Hope you find or build what you need!
