Re: Evolution of design : Gold Finch 40
I Maiden the BMGF yesterday on Sunday 16th of May!!! The wind was strong and gusty at times but the Gold-Finch flew oh so nice just like its little .40size brother. The brand new CRRC 26 Pro has bags and bags of power. I throttled up slowly and the tail came up very fast and was quickly airborne. I flew about 10 min just doing basic circuits at about 1/3 throttle. I did a few rolls both left and right and was happy with the roll rate. I then set up for a landing at at idle and she nicely flew down to land. Not wanting to see the model bounce back up - I quickly cut the engine using the remote optical kill switch. Note I didn't walk out and retrieve my model cause Iam sure I walking on sunshine with a giant smile on my face.
I declare this project done!

Re: Evolution of design : Gold Finch 40
Nothing special to report on flights! I got about 6 flight in so far - Iam kind of babying it with the new motor being broken in - Plane flys great - Take-off's are a brezze tail comes up fast and touch of rudder to track straight and she's airborne. - Rolls are axial and fairly fast. Landings are amazing simply flair at touch down I've gressed a smooth landing everytime so far. Its got a decent glide as I found out once when I ran the tank dry 10oz after about 20min of flight. It ran dry about 300ft up and on the farside of the circuit about the half way mark I simply continued the circut pushing the nose down a tad to keep up the airspeed up. The motor runs nice - but much prefers a starter. Starts easily with a quick blip of the starter.
