LED Strips?

Just wondering if anyone is using the colored LED strips on their electric flyers?
Usually sold in 1 foot strips by HobbyKing and others.
Wondering if they need a driver module to power them? or just a lipo?

Re: LED Strips?

Lipo with a brushed ESC to adjust the brightness should work pretty good...

Re: LED Strips?

The led's from hobbyking are a meter long and range from $6~$9. They run well on 2 cell lipos and extremely bright on 3 cell lipos.

As can be seen in this picture, bright enough to illuminate through 2 and 3 mill depron.

Re: LED Strips?

Yes, I know they are bright. Thanks for the photo.
I want to know if you can plug them directly into the lipo ??? or do you need a
transformer of some kind????

Mine run directly plugged into the lipos. They run well on 6~12 volts, so use no more than a 3 cell lipo. 2 meters will run for 15~20 minutes on a 500mah 3cell.

A 2s Makita Lithium Ion pack will give you over 1500 ma and adequate voltage.

Re: LED Strips?

I have them under my kitchen cabinets, good light on 12V (I've also run them on 3s LiPo wires shoved directly in to the balance plug)

I recently found another source but the minimum buy is 5m (not 1m at HK) but better prices and they have warm white, so you can guess what's going in my new house under the cabinets (50cm x 3 should be plenty) and under my porch to light up my front door.

They come self adhesive with 3M VHB double sided tape (the same thing holding plastic bits to the side of your car) and you can cut them every 3 LEDs (60 LEDs per meter, you figure it out), still 12 Volts DC (every three LEDs have one resistor).

Re: LED Strips?

I am running my plane's LED's using a 1300 3S Liop, and have not had any problems with the battery.

Re: LED Strips?

When I see the lights I'll be able to recommend them, I don't want others to waste money if they don't ship or ship the wrong item...

They are off a website in Honk Konk.
