Unknown Engine

I posted some pictures of an engine that I aquired, and would like to know if anyone is familiar with this type of engine. From what I can make out of the Russian instructions, it is 2.5cc and will turn 22000 rpm. It only has a venturi so I presume it is either control line or speed plane material. Sure would be nice with a carb though! The pictures are in the gallery, under Users Gallery/Ridergary aircraft photos. Any information would be appreciated....Gary

sorry I can't totaly identify that little gem however it is likely a u/c speed engine, it looks alot like the va's they were about that color and if it were for combat it likely wouldn't have the pipe or the spinner, it could be the second last generation of ff engine for fai but if you look on the side you didn't photo if it says 2.46 it would fit in that class if bigger could be proto speed or class 2. You may have no fortune in carburating this thing as it is likely race timed and compessed to the optimum rpm. 22k sounds slow <the conquests did that with a 7/6 in the 70,s if I remember rite > look for on the instructions numbers pertaining to props for some idea and you may need strange brew to even make it squalk may even need preasure bladder tank to run .Have fun let us know how you make out use a starter and keep your fingers accounted for I have with high compression engines that are verry tight at top given them a shot of wd 40 as start fluid! not too mutch just enough to make if slip if you give it too much you will likely bend the rod with the starter! or better yet heat up the head a touch and see if it tightens to see if you want it cold when it starts or hot not all european engines use nitro in the fuel so see what you can find in the instructions scan and send them to me if you want and I will foreward them to someone that may know but whatever you prefer. hope this doesn't bore you

Gary,
I received the Ruski engine today - nice piece of work! I will try and run it on the test stand soon, and if it runs well maybe a CL ship will have to be made for it.

It looks a lot like my Rossi 15 rear exhaust engine.

Thanks again, the pipe is beautifull too!

Andrew
