Re: Getting into jets!
First thing to do is find out where all the other jet pilots fly, and then go there and pick their brains. They wont mind you asking a lot of questions as we like to promote our end of the hobby.
Welcome to the best part of RC |

Re: Getting into jets!
Hi Gary
I assume by the club you say belong to is Airdrie. There the only ones I know that has a no jet fly policy I have heard. The club that I think you went to, to find Jets I assume was Stampede. We probably have the most Jet flyers I know. If you would have been out in that afternoon on Saturday, I was out with my Turbo prop Raven, but it was pretty much a none event, because I burnt up another starter motor. So it did not fly. Andrew is quit right when he says everybody trying to keep things in one piece for Princeton. Princeton is a great place to watch jets and ask lots of questions if you have that weekend off and wish to trek off that far. That's how I got started in about 2004. There you may see what is new and also what field equipment may be of a help to you as well. I probably wont be flying anything turbine related on Sunday, next weekend, but if you want to come out to Stampede and meet and ask some questions you are welcome. My name is Alan. You could PM me and we could get in touch to confirm that I will be out on Sunday if you would like. Good luck and look forward to meeting you. Alan |

Re: Getting into jets!
Thanks all for your responses. You are correct Allan, I am an AMAS member and I was out to Stampede on Monday. I will take you up on your invitation to meet this coming weekend. Im bursting with excitement!
As for the meet in Princeton, I was at pm hobby and met a Gent by the name of Kan I think, (Asian guy) who gave me your name and told me to get a hold of you. (He flys a boomerang I think he said.....sorry im rambling). Anyway, back to the point, he told me about the meet and yes I am going. Allan, my email is grmelnick@gmail.com. Send me an email and your number and we can arrange a time this coming weekend. Thanks again for your gracious offer. Ron, I think you are bang on with your comment! So excited Sir, so excited..... |

Re: Getting into jets!
Big thanks to Allan for taking the time to speak with me in regards to my new quest. I ranted on and on over the phone, and Allan was very patient with me, answering each of my many questions. Very knowledgeable and a true ambassador of the hobby.
Thanks again Allan! Gary |

Re: Getting into jets!
I just started into jets this year, I have an old Graupner Hot Spot and absolutely love it!
Ron is right too, it's all I've been flying since the maiden, lol, nothing else compares. Enjoy!
