Freewing F-16 Servo question...
Hi,
I got a Freewing F-16 for Christmas, and before I put it together was thinking of changing the ESC. Does anyone know if the Freewing 9g servos are ok at 5.5V or 6V? Or are they only rated for 5V? Thanks, Tom

Are you able to get any ID info from one of them?

Re: Freewing F-16 Servo question...
Best to ask on the RCGroups thread to be sure.
I would feel comfortable running 5.5. This add selling FW 9g servos shows max voltage as 6. http://shop.hepf.com/RC-Bereich/Serv...rvo::9006.html The FW retracts also seem to be rated up to 6V. http://www.rc-castle.com/index.php?r...roduct_id=1121

Re: Freewing F-16 Servo question...
Thanks Eric, before I glued it together I was thinking of sticking in a YEP 60A ESC. All my other planes and heli's have the YEP ESC's so I wanted to be consistent. The servos have no markings, so I appreciate the help.
It is my first EDF with vector thrust so I can't wait to try it out. Thanks, Tom

Re: Freewing F-16 Servo question...
I myself don't trust no name servos, I always swap out the included servos with Hitec servos. At least you have a margin of confidence that they work properly and are accurate. Hitec 's work for both voltage settings as well.

Re: Freewing F-16 Servo question...
I have had the worst luck when it comes to hitec servos, I have had so many out of box failures, or ones that jitter after two flights. I had one a few months ago that made my 540qq look like a swimming whale, slow elevator oscillations...

Re: Freewing F-16 Servo question...
That's not good. Well, so far, I've been lucky I guess. The only brand name servos I've had problems with were a couple of JR mini servos, only $20.00 each, but, because they were a brand, the hobby shop replaced them for free. If you have no name ones, then, you would be out of luck.
I guess I just like the idea of being able to get service locally if they don't perform. |
