Next step was to put the SS tubing in the drill, install the one wing and wing bolts.

I put a depth marker on the tool at 2 5/8" and drilled the hole (yikes, those teeth were sharp). By drilling with this tool, it ensures that the hole in the wing stays parallel with the wing tube.

And here are a few pictures of the 3/8" dowls, epoxied in place with 30 minute!!

You can really see the angles required to keep them parallel with the wing tube, but no guessing required with Walt's method.

And lastly the 1 1/2" diameter plywood donuts were cut out with a hole saw from some strap 1/4" plywood. The hole in the center is drilled on a slight angle in the donut to get that perfect fit. I glued these donuts to the sheeting with 30 minute epoxy!

All that's left is to pin the aileron hinges, and do a final sand and the build will be done!!!

I may have touched it just a little! lol! And Trevor might have to sand out some drool stains before covering, but all is good!

As for the spying, he has no idea!

Jack,
OK if you won't disclose scheme, what about a hint? What colours? So I guess once coverrring starts your twiching will become "insane in the membrane" since Trev CAN'T post ANY pics till it's done?

Jim... we've got to keep things a surprise here! All I can say is Jack did a phenomenal job of the design and will be a good challenge to get proportionally correct. Since it is so versatile with colours, the options here are endless. Mr. Durgan has proposed that this scheme become the BBT scheme.... hummm!!!

Don't worry though - I'll take lots of pictures as I go along and you'll see it all come together!

First, I'm going to cover the hatch and get that tricky area out of the way and then will do the fuse so we can get the fuse/cowl off to paint!!!

I think I will be able to start covering tomorrow or Monday and my target to have the hatch and fuse covered and ready for paint is January 17th - next Sunday!!
