There have been many flying under the UAV category for business and the only thing is with MAACs help the application forms have been simplified.

I just had a conversation with Richard about this.
As it turns out you are right Dennis. The heavy weights, over 77 pounds, still deal with the DOT in the UAV category, but, with the fabulous efforts of the special MAAC working group, the DOT might not be so hard on the SFOC application process if strictly for recreation.

For the fellows that have called me, and a few that don't know about it yet, I have a second email out to Mr Wattie. I'll send you whatever he gives me.

Hats-off to the special working group in this rather unique effort with the DOT!
Also, a very big thank you Mr Barlow for taking the time to discuss this.

go to the MAAC web site and read the agreement between MAAC and the AMA and we will see that.
Palmer has it half right.

AMA pilots flying regular size aircraft are covered for personal liability through thier AMA policy. While they are participating in Canada and following MAAC guidelines MAAC insurance for the clubs, fields and land owners would still be in effect.
